...proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.
Helping the Church become God's missionary people takes courage, sensitivity and wisdom. Here at Ridley we want to inspire vision to lead, to nurture gifts in teaching and caring, and to kindle passion and skills to empower all God's people.
Our courses include modules dedicated to Mission Studies, and the Centre for Pioneer Learning seeks to identify and train individuals who have a clear vocation to serve and guide the whole Church in developing fresh expressions of church life.
We believe passionately in a God who calls us to engage in his mission in the world, and a focus on mission - both in the UK and overseas - is central to our students' practical training and to the life of our community. Find out more by browsing the tabs below.
Social Context Placements
Social Context Placements (SCPs) give valuable opportunities to explore the way the Christian faith relates to issues of contemporary secular life.
There are many different SCPs on offer to our students, ranging from working with healthcare chaplains to chaplains in the armed forces, prison chaplains, CRUSE bereavement counsellors and working with marginalised young people.
Students complete either one or two SCPs, depending on the length of their studies. Each SCP consists of about 50 hours of placement time - either in a block during a vacation, or on a weekly basis in term time.
It is a privilege to support our College Mission Partners and Ridleians now serving in ministry across the globe.
On Fridays as a community we have a 'mission lunch' of soup and bread - the money saved is donated to support our Mission Partners. A similar weekly donation is raised through the Mission Cake Sale on Community Thursdays.
Faith in the workplace
Faith in Business (FiB), a Centre based at Ridley Hall and directed by the Revd Dr Richard Higginson, Ridley's Lecturer in Christian Ethics, seeks both to support Christians in demanding working contexts and to transform the Church's engagement with the world of work and business.
Insights gained through the Centre's events, publications and research activities are integrated into the regular teaching programme through modules on Ethics and Gospel & Western Culture. In addition, a short intensive course dedicated to exploring the relation between faith and business is designed to equip our students for ministry to and alongside business people.

At Ridley Hall we believe that mission is essential to ministry because our God is a missionary God! Participating in a mission is an excellent way of building a commitment to mission into our lives.
Whether or not we are natural evangelists, each of us has gifts to offer in a mission context. Every ordinand who is here for more than a year will take part in at least one mission at some point during their training.
A mission team consists of a member of staff and a team of up to 12 students. The team normally meets together beforehand to prepare events and to pray. Spouses are welcome to join a mission team.
