Courses: Bachelor of Arts in Theology - BA (Tripos)
Who is it for?
The BA course (commonly known as Tripos) is for ordinands who want a strong academic focus to their studies.
Who awards it?
The BA is awarded by the University of Cambridge. Tripos students become members of a university college alongside membership of Ridley.
Entry requirements
Tripos students need to have completed a previous degree in another subject with at least a 2:1 result.
Length of study
For undergraduates, the Tripos is a three year course taken - as the name would suggest in three stages: Part I, Part IIA and Part IIB. Ordinands are allowed to enter the Tripos at the start of Part IIA. They spend their first two years in training doing Tripos. In their third year, they normally take the ARU Certificate in Christian Theology. Occasionally they do the MA in Pastoral Theology (ARU) in their third year. This enables them to study subjects considered crucial for ordained ministry which they have not been able to cover through Tripos.
Who teaches it?
The BA is taught by lecturers in the Divinity Faculty. A few members of Federation staff lecture and supervise for the Faculty.
