Context Based Learning
All students on the youth and/or children ministry degree streams undertake work with children and/or young people in a church or faith based organisation from day one of their studies. These ‘practice agencies’ are typically local churches or faith based organisations such as Youth For Christ. As part of the ministry team you will engage with children and/or young people for between 14-16 hours a week. A designated line manager, colleagues and a nominated mentor will support you in the work.
The ministerial practice agency is an important part of training with CYM Ridley Hall. It is here that you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice and develop your skills as a competent youth and/or children’s minister. You are supported in this process by a designated ministerial practice tutor whom facilities the formation groups within the block teaching weeks.
A number of churches and faith-based charities contact us about the possibility of a student joining their ministry team. If your church or organisation is interested in having a student join you, please contact Fiona Bell-Williamson who will be able to send you further information.
