We were delighted to hear this week of the Revd Liz Adekunle's appointment as the new Archdeacon of Hackney.

The Revd Liz AdekunleCurrently the Chaplain of St John's College, Cambridge, Liz's work at the College has been appreciated by staff and students alike.  At the 2014 awards ceremony for the CUSU Teaching Excellence Award (TEA), the importance of pastoral care was highlighted, with many students expressing their appreciation for staff who supported them personally in what is a challenging academic environment. The outgoing CUSU President spoke of her gratitude for Liz, singling out her “really good sense of humour”.

With her appointment as Archdeacon, Liz moves back to her roots in London. In a Diocese of London communication, the Bishop of London welcomed her as "a hugely gifted priest", saying "I am confident that Liz will make a significant contribution to policy formation and the life of the Diocese and Area as a whole".
