Newbigin Centre officially launched!
The official launch of the Newbigin Centre for Gospel and Western Culture took place on July 16th as part of the second annual 'Lesslie Newbigin Summer Institute'.
Over 60 people gathered for the launch, including academics, leaders in culture, business and church life, and mission partners, some with a personal link to Newbigin himself. Over wine and canapés, and in the beautiful setting of the Tudor library building at Trinity Hall Cambridge, there was a real sense of excitement and enthusiasm for the Centre and its future possibilities.
The Centre's Director, Paul Weston, outlined its vision, and there were short contributions from Scot Sherman (Director of the Newbigin House of Studies, San Francisco), John Proctor (General Secretary of the United Reformed Church), and Ridley Principal Andrew Norman, who also proposed the toast to the future of the Centre and its desire to promote and develop 'careful missional thinking about Western culture'.
