Tabgha Appeal Update
One of the bigger expenditures that the Annual Fund paid for this year was our new servery counter, Tabgha. Your support raised £8,600 in total, over half of the total cost, and allowed us to afford the purchase.
As you may already have seen in the summer issue of News from Ridley, we were able to afford our new servery counter, and we want to let supporters of our Annual Fund know the difference it is making. Relating the new counter to Jesus’ mealtime encounter in John 21 seemed to strike a chord, with several of the donations reflecting the 153 fish in amount!
We would like to thank you for coming to our aid in this purchase, and really demonstrating to us how God helps provide when we are in need.
A few months on from the servery’s installation, a picture of Tabgha - Jesus’ resurrection breakfast - hanging proudly next to it, it is hard to imagine our community without it; and thankfully our new intake won’t have to! Its increased capacity has made it easier for students and staff to get served, and it has ensured that the dining hall remains a place of conversation and contemplation. This is particularly noticeable on Thursdays, when the whole extended Ridley community is in attendance at meals.
Jenny Steer, who is the wife of a current ordinand, thinks it has made an inestimable difference to meal times. "Everyone gets served a lot faster with the servery’s larger capacity. This is especially good for the children - long lines aren’t their strong point! It helps to give a focal point to meals, which is so important for Ridley."
Once more, we just want to say thank you.
