Paul Weston on a missionRidley alumnus Eileen Harrop, who is the vicar of Gainford and Winston, had invited Paul up to take part in a mission initiative involving the four northern Anglican dioceses. Called 'Talking Jesus’, it aims to reach people outside the church with the good news of Jesus.

Paul gave an illustrated talk, showing pictures from some of his mountain adventures in the Alps and the Himalayas. He used them to illustrate what it means to trust.

‘There are many connections,’ he said, ‘climbing is about trust, just as faith is about trusting Jesus who goes before us - for this life as well as the one to come.'

Paul gave the talk six times as many visitors came to the church to try their hand at abseiling.
