Negotiating Faithfully: Business Advice
In a recent column in The Times newspaper, Ridley Hall's Director of Faith in Business Richard Higginson, explores the issue of business negotation through Holy Living, a book written by Jeremy Taylor, chaplain to King Charles I.
Christian faith, writes Richard Higginson, rightly understood and applied, can be an enormous power for good in the operation of the economy.
Among the wise words from Taylor's book he highlights is this advice, concentrating on the use of words: "In making contracts, be economical with words; for all the business in a bargain can be expressed by a few sentences; and the less said, the fairer the contract will be, because there will be fewer opportunities to deceive."
