Ridley Hall included in new audio tour
Henry Martyn [1781-1812], the great missionary translator, is commemorated in one of the quatrefoil windows of our Chapel balcony.
This great man, who translated the New Testament into Urdu, Persian and Judaeo-Persic, discovered his vocation through contact with Charles Simeon when he came up to St John’s College from his native Cornwall. His entry in the Dictionary of National Biography unfairly diminishes his faith, his profound vocation, and his scholarly achievements.
We are grateful to the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide for setting up this tour, details of which are available on this flyer, and for including Ridley Hall in its new Henry Martyn audio tour.
