Lesslie Newbigin Summer Institute
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Lesslie Newbigin Summer Institute, we are delighted to announce this summer’s Institute, to be held at Trinity Hall Cambridge (July 13-16).
Taking Newbigin’s descriptive phrase, "The Gospel as Public Truth," the Institute will explore what he meant by it, and ask what implications his thinking has for the continuing witness of the church in the West.
The Institute is run in partnership with the Newbigin House of Studies in San Francisco. Learn more about the Summer Institute.
Ridley Hall is also pleased to announce the formal launch of the Newbigin Centre for Gospel and Western Culture, under the Direction of Paul Weston. This is a new venture that aims to attract research students to work at the kinds of questions that Newbigin opened up for the church in the West. Its aim is to produce high quality research and to offer resources to the wider Church in its continuing mission in the West.
The Centre’s Director, Paul Weston, believes that both the Centre’s launch and the Newbigin Summer Institute demonstrate the "profound and continuing impact of Newbigin’s thought on missionary engagement on both sides of the Atlantic."
The centre will be officially launched on July 16 as part of this summer’s Institute.
