Senior Student heads to Waco, Texas

Tim Madeley is heading off this summer to Waco, Texas.  He explains why...

My name is Tim Madeley and I am just finishing my second of three years training at Ridley Hall. I am currently the Senior Student. Initially I trained as an Employment Lawyer, but felt this wasn’t right and heard God calling me towards exploring ordination. As part of training for ordination with the Church of England, we are required to undertake a Parish placement of 4 weeks where we are immersed in the day to day running of a church, rather than just seeing what happens on a Sunday as we do during term time.

I will be doing my placement this June/July at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, Waco, TX with the Revd Jason Ingalls. Jason was previously on staff at Ridley Hall. I am really looking forward to spending time in Texas and seeing what it is like leading a church when you don’t have a Parish and how that works on a day to day basis. I am also looking forward to seeing the differences in the culture and how, or if, this changes the approaches towards leading a church. I hope that through my placement, I will be able to learn things that will be invaluable to my own ministry when I have finished at Ridley Hall.
