The Reverend Dr Michael B Thompson
The Reverend Dr Michael B Thompson, BA, ThM, PhD, is Vice-Principal. After teaching at St John's College, Nottingham for seven years, he came to Ridley in 1995 to lecture in New Testament and Greek for the Federation. Before completing his doctorate at Cambridge on the influence of Jesus' teaching and example on Paul, he was a curate in his home diocese in eastern North Carolina. His dissertation was published as Clothed with Christ. He also wrote Transforming Grace: A Study of 2 Corinthians, co-edited A Vision for the Church, and contributed to the Dictionary of Paul and His Letters, The Gospels for All Christians, and Heresies and How to Avoid Them. He recently served as the biblical consultant for the award-winning BBC Radio 4 drama series Witness, a dramatization of Luke's story of Jesus.

Mike chairs the Grove Biblical Group, for which he produced The New Perspective on Paul and When Should We Divide? Schism and Discipline in the New Testament. He has contributed studies on Romans, Galatians,
and 1 Corinthians to the Bible Reading Fellowship's Guidelines publication. Mike has a special interest in New Testament history and archaeology, having led many tours to the Holy Land. When he is not teaching or playing guitar, he enjoys spending time with Susanne, their two daughters, and their golden retriever Shira.
