The Right Reverend Simon Barrington-Ward

The Right Reverend Simon Barrington-Ward, KCMG, MA, is Chaplain to the staff of Ridley Hall. He is the Honorary Assistant Chaplain of Magdalene College and has honorary degrees from Wycliffe Hall, Toronto (DD) and from Warwick University (DLitt). From 1970-75 he was Principal of Crowther Hall, Selly Oak Colleges, and from 1975-85, General Secretary of the Church Mission Society. In 1985 he became Bishop of Coventry where he served until 1997. He has written Love Will Out (1988), Why God? (1993), The Jesus Prayer (1996) and Praying the Jesus Prayer Together, co-written with Brother Ramon. A new, revised edition of the 1996 book The Jesus Prayer came out in 2007 and is now available. Simon is married to Jean, and they have two daughters, Mary and Helen, who is married to James Orr. Helen and James have one son, Godfrey, born on 3rd February 2008.
