The Revd Dr Jonathan Linebaugh
Born and raised in the United States, Dr Linebaugh read economics and theology as an undergraduate and Masters student (including periods of study in Greece and Israel).
He then studied New Testament Theology as a post-graduate at Durham University, writing a doctoral thesis on early Jewish and New Testament theology. Before joining the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge and the Fellowship of Jesus College, he taught New Testament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Dr Linebaugh's main academic interest is the interpretation of the New Testament, especially the letters of Paul. This interest works both backwards and forwards, bringing Paul’s writing into conversation both with the literature contemporaneous with it and with the history of interpreting Paul.
He is also an ordained minister and regularly combines his academic studies with preaching, pastoral care, and a range of public teaching.
