Mike Kelly

Chaplain to Ridley Lay Ministry Students

Mike is Chaplain to the Lay Ministry students at Ridley Hall. He is onsite during the study blocks and supports students with their emotional and spiritual wellbeing. He see this as a vital part of the formation of the lay ministry students, providing a safe space for reflection and learning.

He is passionate about lay ministry and seeing people discover who they are called to be and exploring what that might mean in terms of vocation and ministry. Mike has a particular interest in mental health and mission as well as resilience in leadership. He seeks to be a non-anxious presence within the Lay Ministry community offering support, encouragement and guidance to the students and creating opportunities for open and honest conversations.

Mike is the Youth and Families Development Officer for Ely Diocese, a Practice Tutor for the Institute for Children, Youth and Mission, a Person-Centred therapist and a Mental Health First Aid instructor.

Personal interests

Mike is an avid reader and enjoys keeping up to date with the latest research and thinking both in youth ministry and wellbeing. He is also a keen rock climber and enjoys camping and walking his dog.
