Rachel was appointed as Children's and Family Ministry Tutor in 2018. She is passionate about supporting churches and faith-based organisations respond to the growing and complex needs of children and families as well as deepening understanding of the spirituality of children.
- Personal background
Rachel has been involved working alongside children, young people and families in a variety of contexts for over twenty years.
Following her first degree in English Literature, Rachel worked in East Yorkshire as a full-time church-based children, young people and families worker on a large estate experiencing high levels of deprivation. She has also worked for the YMCA supporting young people and families.
After completing an MA in Community Education, Rachel worked for fourteen years for a Cambridgeshire faith-based charity supporting children, young people and families facing significant challenges in their lives. Her roles included coordination of the teenage parents programme, Children's Centre manager for two large statutory funded Children's Centres and tutor for adult learning literacy and self-confidence programmes.
Rachel’s practice specialisms include: supporting vulnerable families facing complex issues; partnership working; working with teenage parents; and designing and delivering adult learning courses.
Rachel is also actively involved with leading children's ministry at her church. As a member of the ‘Growzone’ team she enjoys supporting children to encounter God’s love and understand more of who they are.
Rachel studied for an MA in Community Education with Professional qualification in Youth work (JNC). During her time as Children’s Centre Manager she undertook the National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership (NPQICL). Her first degree was English Literature.

Rachel is a mum of two young boys, and is involved in leading children’s ministry at her church, supporting children with reading at primary school and fundraising for the local preschool.
- Other interests
Rachel enjoys outdoor adventures with her young family and has recently acquired a family canoe. She enjoys keeping fit, hill walking and cooking and eating Thai food!
