New Vice Principal and Dean of Ridley Lay Ministry Appointed

Ridley Hall are delighted to announce that Revd Fiona Green is to take up the post of Vice Principal and Dean of Ridley Lay Ministry.

Combining the role of Vice Principal with that of Dean of Lay Ministry is a new and exciting step for the College. This reflects the significance that Ridley places on becoming a beacon of Christian learning and formation for those called to a wide range of lay ministries as well as for those training for ordination. In relation to our lay-ministry training,

Fiona will build on the excellent work already being done by Robin Barden and his team. Ridley currently have almost 50 full-time lay ministry students and this number is set to grow. With Fiona's arrival Robin will move into a new role, developing Ridley's London teaching centre and building new partnerships in the UK and beyond.

Alongside her leadership of lay-ministry training, as Vice Principal of Ridley Hall, Fiona will work closely with the Principal, tutorial staff and ordinands to contribute to shaping an approach to formation that is fit for the twenty-first century church.

The Principal of Ridley Hall, Rev Dr Michael Volland, said, 'I am delighted that God has called Fiona to serve Him at Ridley Hall. We are in the midst of a hugely exciting time for the community, with growth on many fronts. Fiona has just the right gifts for this season in the life of the College and a fantastic range of experience to draw on. The community are looking forward to welcoming her and working alongside her as she leads our dynamic lay ministry program and seeks to share with us in developing the life of the whole College.'

Brought up in Cambridge, Fiona read engineering at Cambridge University, before working for the Engineering Consultancy, Arup, in England, Australia and Ireland, developing a particular interest in urban regeneration work. After taking a year away from engineering, to work for a Christian, ecumenical charity, Fiona returned to explore her calling to ordination, before training for ministry at Ridley Hall.

Fiona's last role before this appointment has been as Intern Scheme Director, and Assistant Area Director of Ordinands and member of the Training Team, for the Stepney Episcopal Area. She has also served as a Steering Group member of the Church of England’s Ministry Experience Scheme (MES). Her passion is to see people, inspired by the Holy Spirit, trained and equipped to share the gospel in the communities of which that are a part.

Fiona will move to Cambridge at the end of the summer and start the role at the beginning of the new academic year. Please join us in praying for Fiona as she prepares to leave her current post and take up a new and exciting challenge at Ridley Hall.
