Ridley Hall hosts Third Global Congress on Sport and Christianity
It was an honour for Ridley to host the Third Global Congress on Sport and Christianity this August. Over 100 people from the UK and overseas attended 40+ presentations given by academics and practitioners.
Responding to the theme of servant leadership delegates were inspired by Keynotes from Steven Waller, Elizabeth Bounds, Ashley Null, Andrew Parker and Michael Volland. The keynotes and the range of other presenters encouraged and challenged us to think more deeply about how Christians involved at all levels of sport and sports chaplaincy can be more purposeful, relevant, and faithful to Jesus and the good news of the Kingdom of God in our lives and ministries. A central challenge was how we might collaborate more effectively to achieve this. As we spent time learning, worshiping, and eating together, new relationships were forged, and old ones rekindled.

Looking back, we give thanks to God for the Congress and for what God is already doing among us. Looking forward, we are excited about new gospel partnerships and expectant for Kingdom fruit.
The Congress builds on the development of Ridley’s Sports Ministry training pathway and our involvement in the Church of England’s national Sport and Wellbeing project.
