The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Commis Chef to join our friendly kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills in a supportive and community-focused environment with the added benefit of working family friendly hours on a rota system, either starting at 7am or 11am, with only occasional evening or weekend working required during term time for which TOIL is given. Outside of term time rotas are worked on a 5 day out 7 basis to ensure adequate cover for our residential summer school.
Working alongside our Head Chef and kitchen team, you will assist in preparing and delivering meals to a high standard while maintaining excellent hygiene and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of fresh, seasonal meals
• Support the kitchen team with food preparation and service
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
• Follow health and safety and food safety regulations at all times
• Help with stock rotation and basic kitchen organisation
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment
Our ideal candidate will have
• A passion for food and a willingness to learn and develop
• Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to take instruction and work well as part of a team
• A flexible and positive attitude
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene (Level 2 Food Safety preferred or willingness to obtain)
