Support for students

Student support within Ridley Hall is recognised as being of paramount importance and addressed in a holistic manner.

We appreciate all students may need support at various times in their journey. This can include educational, spiritual, personal and much more. With this in mind, the staff strive to provide a range of support to ensure all students feel encouraged and included.

This is an area of College life that is constantly developing, and a number of positive changes are currently under way to ensure students and staff alike receive the help they need during their time with us.

Spiritual support

All students have access to an on-site chaplaincy team who can provide spiritual direction as well as support to students in their own faith journey.

Pastoral support

We recognise that life does not stop just because you are in training. This is why designated staff are on hand to provide advice, support and advocacy. The one thing we ask of you is to let us know if you are facing difficulties as soon as you are able. We can therefore look to support you in the best way possible.

Learning support

"Being dyslexic and dyspraxic has meant that I had quite a rough ride with my compulsory education, but Ridley has been so supportive of my learning needs that it has eased my transition back into learning."
Ben Brady, Ridley ordinand

Study skills support is provided through formative and summative feedback from lecturers, online resources and classroom teaching.

June Massey is our SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties) Tutor who supports students with a diagnosed SpLD, providing advice on learning strategies, assessments and communication with tutors.

We also support students to access an Initial Diagnostic Assessment if this is something you would like to explore. This is the first step in accessing the DSA (Disabled Students' Allowances).

Safeguarding

Within Ridley we have a designated safeguarding officer, Andrew Dunlop. If you are facing any safeguarding issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

College accessibility

We're committed to making what reasonable adjustments we can to our infrastructure and processes to help students with mobility difficulties to engage as fully as possible with life and learning at Ridley.
